
More than eight years after the abduction and sexual assault of a popular actress, a crime that rocked the Malayalam film industry and Kerala society, a court today pronounced its verdict in the case. The first six accused were found guilty of the crime, while actor Dileep, the eighth accused and the alleged mastermind, who spent nearly three months in jail, was found not guilty. Bina Paul, a film editor and founder of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), which was formed after the incident, speaks to The Hindu about the verdict.
