
The Vizianagaram administration is concentrating on acquiring land for development around the Bhogapuram International Airport and other places, said Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsunndar Reddy and Joint Collector S. Sedhu Madhavan during a meeting with the Revenue Department, Roads and Buildings Department, Irrigation Department and municipal authorities on Monday.
The Collector informed that the government has finally managed to complete the acquisition of 2712.51 acres of land for the construction of the airport and airport approach roads after facing difficulties in land acquisition.
He further informed that officials now want to acquire 204.53 acres for completion of Tarakarama Teertha sagar project, crucial for water supply to Bhogapuram International Airport. Gazette notification for land acquisition for construction work on several routes including Vizianagaram-Kothavalasa, Pendurthi-Bobbili, Raipur-Visakhapatnam and others is expected soon.
Officials hope that after the construction of roads between Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam route, many software industries would set up office in Vizianagaram district. The government is also interested in acquiring private land for developing IT clusters in Bhogapuram and surrounding areas, they informed the meeting.
