
As part of the National Cattle Control Program, 7th round and mouth vaccination (FMD) (FMD) will be carried out in the Kodag District.
At a recent meeting in Madikeri, Deputy Commissioner Venkataraja, he ordered officials to take all the necessary measures to ensure the success of the drive. He stressed the importance of livestock health and said FMD represents a serious threat to the agricultural community by causing significant financial losses. He called on all parties involved to cooperate on the elimination of the disease early vaccination.
Lingaraja Doddamani, Deputy Director of the Department of Animals and Veterinary Sciences, noted that FMD is highly contagious diseases affecting livestocks such as cattle and pigs. He stressed that regular vaccinations are vital twice a year in preventing the spread of the disease.
Vaccination will be administered to calves older than three months, while the strengthening dose is planned three to five weeks after the initial shot. He also supplied pregnant cows and buffalo to safely accept the vaccine.
The Kodag district is home to 76,920 livestock and a specialized team of 75 veterinary employees was mobilized for drive. The vaccine is provided without costs and officials urged farmers and farm animals to extend the full cooperation on the field staff during the campaign.
Vaccination is a vital step to protect the health of animals and ensure economic stability for farmers throughout the district, the officials said.
