Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will lay the foundation stones of office buildings of several national banking institutions in Amaravati on November 28. The ceremony will be held at the APCRDA office on Seed Access Road, officials confirmed. The event marks a major step in revitalizing Amaravati’s institutional infrastructure as banks that have been allotted land under the APCRDA set up permanent operations in the capital region.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has directed these institutions to speed up construction and start operations as soon as possible from Amaravati, underscoring the government’s renewed focus on capital development. Recently, APCRDA has allotted land to big banks: NABARD got one acre in Uddandarayunipalem, while Bank of India, Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda and Union Bank of India got 0.40 acre each in a nearby survey. State Bank of India was allotted three acres spread across Lingayapal and Uddandarayunipal. About four acres have been allotted to Reserve Bank of India and Andhra Pradesh Grameena Bank has also acquired land for its Amaravati office, among others.
KRV Jaya Kumar, secretary of the All India Officers’ Confederation, Andhra Pradesh branch, said the banks would complete the construction as per the schedule that was assured to the chief minister. The current launch of these projects is seen as the foundation stone for transforming Amaravati into a major financial hub with permanent infrastructure for banks and related institutions.
