In a major setback for immigrants, Florida banned H-1B visa hiring as Gov. Ron DeSantis urged state universities to hire Americans.
“Universities across the country are importing foreign workers on H-1B visas instead of hiring Americans who are qualified and available for the job. We will not tolerate H-1B abuse at Florida institutions. That’s why I have directed the Florida Board of Governors to end this practice,” said Governor Ron De Santis.
He added, “Florida leads the nation in higher education, and thousands of highly qualified Americans graduate from our colleges and universities each year.”
What if universities are struggling to find US citizens to fill their jobs?
If universities are trying to find US citizens to fill their jobs, then “they should evaluate their academic programs to see why they can’t produce graduates who could be hired for those positions,” says Ron De Santis.
