Strong collisions launched strong waterlogging on Edattupally, which led to Kannur University in Thavakkara, flooded houses and forced the evacuation of several families, especially migrating workers.
A rescue operation led by Kannur Corporation is underway with the support of fire and rescue services and civic authorities. Without proper drainage, which would direct the accumulated rainwater, the main road and the surrounding residential areas were immersed. About 55 people were rescued and moved to safer places.
Corporation officials, led by mayor Michlie Manathil, former mayor of Mohanan, and councilors, coordinated evacuation by boats and rescue teams. Among the evacuated were the natives of Tamil Nadu, who were taken to the station to return home. Others were moved to the houses of relatives in Thalassery, Vaillyanoor, Mayyil and Iritta. A relief camp was established at the MTM school to suit the displaced.

The mayor said that despite the serious floods, many inhabitants were reluctant to evacuate. Ward Sutesh Babu Elyavoor claimed that the floods resulted in blocking caused by recent cleaning work in the university stream.
In Chekchira, Department of 10 Puzhathi zone, an eight -month pregnant woman, Hannah, was saved by a team of fire and rescue services. Five families near the Bridge Pallikunn were also influenced.
The extensive floods were reported from Chekichira, Nalvayal, Kuru, Neerchal, Anjukanda, Kakkad, Chalads, Palliyammoola and Chala. The Kakkad River overflows its shores and worsened the situation. In Valapattam, the landslide will collapse the wall. The temporary bus hiding place built in Puthiyather in traffic reforms also collapsed in heavy rain.
With more rain forecasts, the company urged the inhabitants in the areas susceptible to the floods to cooperate with the efforts of evacuation and remain vigilant.
