The Assam flood situation remained grim on Thursday (5 June 2025), with nearly seven people affected in 21 districts and the water level of the main rivers showing a growing trend, the officials said.
The number of victims in the first wave of floods and landslides increased to 19, with two deaths on Wednesday. One person disappeared in the Cachar district.

Nine main rivers, including Brahmaputra in three places, flowed above the level of danger across the state, while the Barak River flowed above the dangerous brand in the Cachar district, and its tributaries also showed a growing trend, some of which flowed over the red sign.
The current wave of floods influenced 1,494 villages in 66 income circles, the highest of the 339 villages in Sribhumi, 189 in Nagon, 166 in Cachar and 156 in Hailakandi districts.
Sribhumi is the worst affected population of 2.59 601 winding under flood water, followed by Hailakandi with 1.72,439 and Nagaon with 1,02,716, according to Assam State Disaster Management Authoter (ASDMA).
The total area of the crop under flood water is still 14977,99 hectares. About 5.15 737 animals were affected.
The district authorities opened 405 relief camps, where 41,317 prisoners were hidden. They also opened 1.12 324 Center for Distribution of Relief.
From different parts of the state were reported damage to roads, bridges, educational institutions, Anganwadi centers, poles of electricity and other infrastructure.
Monsoon Woes: On the southwest monsoon and northeast
The affected districts are Hailakandi, Dibruugarh, Morigai, Camrup, Kamrup, Golaghat, Biwanath, Cachar, Sribhumi, Sonitpur, Darrang, Goalkeeper, Goal, Goal, Goal, and Dhejip and Dheji.
A spokesman for the northeast border railway (NFR) stated that train services in various parts of South Assam were affected as a result of the growing water level on railway lines and watering on washing, especially in Silchar.
Railway workers work continuously to clean the tracks, the spokesman said.
Some short -distance passenger trains have been canceled. But long distance trains work, the spokesman added.
