Flood alerts were issued by metropolitan water supply and sewerage in Hyderabad because the Himayatsagar and Osmansagar twins are close to the full level of tanks (FTL).
“Due to the significant tide during the current monsoon, the water levels in the Himayathsagar and Osmansagar reservoirs are approaching its FTL. The high probability of opening the Himayathagar flood gates depending on further collisions in the basin,” says media persecution by the civic body.
While the Himayathsagar with a larger basin receives the tide of 500 CUSECS, Osmansagar receives 50 cusecs. The flood warning is focused on the population that lives on the banks of the Musi River.
