Five ‘terror associates’ arrested, Kashmir hideout busted: Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) said that five terrorist supporters were arrested and hideouts busted in Kashmir.

A police spokesman said security forces in a joint operation “arrested five terrorist associates in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district”. Weapons and ammunition were also seized.

“Acting on credible information regarding the movement of terrorist associates, an operation was launched at Khrewan Chadder, Kulgam and five persons were arrested,” the police said, adding that two pistols, three magazines, 40 rounds of 9 mm and three grenades were recovered.

Forest hideout destroyed

In north Kashmir, the police along with the army conducted a joint search operation in the Nagda Nar forest area of ​​Handwara. “During the search operation, the joint team uncovered and destroyed an old hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the hideout,” police said.

The assets recovered included one AK-47 rifle, three grenades, 857 AK rounds, 192 PIKA rounds, eight AK magazines, one silencer, 83 pistol rounds and other incriminating material, police said.
