Five injured, 40 two-wheelers destroyed by fire in basement of Dombivli building

Five people were injured and 40 two-wheelers were gutted in a fire in the basement of a building in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Sunday (February 15, 2026), civic officials said.

“The fire broke out in the underground parking lot of a residential building in the Sagaon area of ​​Dombivli town around 4 am,” the official said.

A woman suffered burn injuries while a man was injured after he jumped from the first-floor flat of the building and three others sustained minor injuries, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation fire director Namdeo Chowdhary told PTI.

According to him, the injured, who all lived on the first floor, are being treated at the hospital. At least 40 two-wheelers parked in the basement were destroyed in the fire, the official said. Two fire trucks went to the scene, the fire was extinguished in an hour, he said, adding that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
