On Saturday in Muttam was carried out a training program on marketing packed fish using intelligent sensors, organized by the College of Fisheries Engineering, Nagapattinam.
This initiative is part of the project financed by the Indian Government program UNAT Bharat Abhiyan.
D. Kesavan, Associate Professor and Main Investigator of the Project, showed the preparation and use of an eye sensor capable of detecting the forces in packed fish without opening the package.
The training emphasized seafood as a vital source of protein, awarded for its high digestibility and nutritional benefits. However, factors such as the odor and time needed for preparation often discourage consumption, especially in working individuals. Hygienically packed, ready to cook fish, reinforced detection sensors, can help increase consumption and reduce food waste.
The sensor developed through this initiative allows consumers to visually assess freshness, improve confidence in packed seafood and increase its market potential. The aim of the project is to promote business in coastal villages by equipping local communities accessible, puree technologies.
The training program was attended by M. Ramar, a professional assistant and a k-principal investigator.
More than 60 participants, including university students, local youth, Panchayat officials and community members participated in the training.
