ITREK, a collective involved in the promotion of responsible trekking, environmental protection and the welfare of forest-dependent communities, organized a specialized first aid and emergency life support workshop for forest guides at Ponmudi on Saturday.
The meeting held at Ponmudi hill top was for forest guides of Ponmudi and Kallar eco-tourist circuits.
Over 60 people participated in the program, including forest observers and tourist guides. The specialized team provided them with training in basic life support and CPR, wildlife and snakebite injury management, fracture stabilization and heat exhaustion management, and emergency evacuation protocols in high-altitude environments.
Palode Forest Director Vipin Chandran V, ITREK Founder Suresh Sam Chandy and Ponmudi Ecotourism Secretary Shaji also spoke on the occasion.
