Fire engulfs Hyderabad-Kakinada private bus on NH-65; 36 passengers escaped
Thirty-six passengers had a narrow escape after a fire broke out in a private bus traveling from Hyderabad to Kakinada on Saturday (May 30, 2026).
According to Chityala sub-inspector Ravi Kumar, the incident was reported around 1.30 am near Peddakaparthi on State Highway 65, about seven kilometers from Chityala town.
The bus, operated by Rainbow Travels, had departed from Mijapur in Hyderabad and was on its way to Kakinada when a suspected short circuit caused a fire in the front of the vehicle.
After being alerted to the danger, passengers were safely evacuated before the flames intensified. Within minutes, the fire quickly spread and engulfed the entire bus, turning it into a charred shell.
On receiving the information, personnel from Chityala Police Station and Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and started fire fighting operations. The fire was eventually brought under control and prevented from spreading further.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
The police have registered a case and started an investigation to find out the exact cause of the fire.
