The Blaze on board on the Singapore Floor -Floor, which was lit last week by the Kerala coast last week, is partly contained, said the General Directorate for Transport (DGS) on Wednesday.
According to the DGS report on the situation of 17th June, there is a noticeable reduction in visible flames and intensity of smoke in most vessel zones – MV Wan Hai 503 – which ignited after an explosion in one of the containers. The vessel is heading to Colombo from Bombai.
Another positive development was the reduced vessel speed, its trajectory at sea and the current position to approximately 68.5 naval miles from the Kerala coast, the report said.
At the same time, the persistent smoke from certain parts of the ship, its history of internal flare that requires permanent firefighting pressure, unfavorable weather conditions and the absence of the second towing line were a matter, he said.
“The weather in the place remains unfavorable, with western winds between 29-34 knots, an impact of up to 39 nodes, intermittently intermittent rainfall and zero visibility periods, all of which significantly prevent fire and eating operations,” DGS said.
The establishment of the second towing line was essential, due to the dynamic sea state and the structural voltage that had already withstand the vessel, he added. Currently, the ship remains connected through a single traction line to the tug – the coastal warrior, he said.
The DGS report also stated that the stability of the vessel stability indicates that it operated within 90% of acceptable sea conditions, but the targeted evaluation of the forces of the hull, especially near the high -heat zones, remain a priority.
He also stated that the discussion is taking place for the port of refugees, as emergency, with Jebel Ali in Dubai on the basis of primary consideration, subject to complete fire suppression, evaluation of structural integrity and regulatory permit.
“Alternatives in Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Qatar are also checked,” he added.
The report also stated that the identification of the body, which allegedly washed on the shore near the coast of Kerala, is currently verified, with the support of local authorities, from 22 crew members aboard the vessel, 18 have been rescued, while four remain missing.
“Efforts remain on the suppression of fire, structural safety and safe relocation of the vessel from Indian waters under the controlled draft,” he said.
