Ankur Warikoo shared on Twitter (now X) that his driver Dayanand is earning a month’s salary ₹53,350 along with insurance, Diwali bonus and scooter. The finnfluencer’s post on social networks sparked a discussion.
Dayanand joined his family 13 years ago ₹15,000. It slowly became a trusted part of their daily lives. His three children are now settled in good jobs and married.
Dayanand still lives a simple life and follows a strict routine with great discipline. He gets up at 4:30 a.m. and goes to bed by 8:30 p.m. He is never late and always greets his family with a smile.
According to Warikoo, Dayanand is more than just a driver. He knows their ATM PIN, keeps duplicate keys and takes care of the kids.
“He drives our kids to class, keeps duplicate keys to the house, knows our ATM PIN, handles all important errands that don’t require our presence, treats me like his own (he addresses everyone in the family as tum and not aap) and is someone I blindly trust to keep my family and myself safe,” the businessman wrote.
“He saves us time, mental stress and effort. All he ever wanted in return was trust – which we were happy to give him. He was one of the best uses of our money and I can’t wait for him to achieve ₹1 lakh per month in the next 5-6 years,” added Ankur Warikoo.
When a social media user asked Ankur Warikoo about Dayanand’s annual increase, Warikoo confirmed that it was 11%.
“It’s a solid 11%, which is what he wanted,” wrote the finfluencer, who has 6.71 million subscribers on YouTube.
Reaction on social networks
Social media users find the post “really heartwarming”.
“This is a really heartwarming read. In a world where people often overlook those who make their daily lives easier, it’s great to see someone who recognizes loyalty, trust and hard work with real respect and growth,” commented one user.
“It’s definitely outlandish. Driver pay has been stagnant for decades. The same 8-10K in 2007-2008 to 20-22K today. Kudos to you!” posted another.
Another user wrote, “This is the right way to treat employees. Dignity of work applies to everyone. Proud of you Ankur.”
However, one of them pointed out that the social media post could endanger Dayanand as it revealed private details.
“I believe you went overboard by adding – He drives our kids to classes, keeps duplicate house keys, knows our ATM PIN – These details are too personal to mention on SM. Now that you’ve even put his photo, it could put his life in danger,” the user wrote.
