
The routine journey turned into a national tragedy on Thursday, when the Air India AI-171, linked to London, crashed just a few minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport and killed all 242 on board.

Among the victims were 11 Rajasthan passengers, including families from Udaipur, Banswara, Bikaner and Balotra. One of the most respected losses was the family of five from Banswara: Dr. Kaumi Vyas, her husband Dr. Pratik Joshi and their three children-Miraya and five-year-old twins Pradyut and Nakul. The family was preparing to start a new life in London.

Among the passengers were Shaubh and Shagun Modi, son and daughter of marble entrepreneur Sanjeev Modi of Udaipur. MBA graduates, involved in their father’s business, traveled to London for their free time, the officials said.
There were also other passengers on board, Vardichand Menaria, a native of Rundeda in VallaBhnagar, Udaipur. He recently returned from London and traveled with his collaborator Prakash Menaria from Rohida. They both worked in the Culinary Sector in the UK.
A newlywed couple
Among 242 passengers was 21 -year -old Khushboo, the newlyweds from the Balotra district in Rajasthan. She traveled to London to start a new life with her husband, a doctor based in the UK. Ashirwad, Khushboo Beta, to go to London, ”says News18.

The flight, which worked from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick 12th June 2025, carried 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals and one Canadian national.
Ex-Gujarat CM ONBOARD
Former Minister Gujarat Vijay Rupani was reportedly on his way to London to meet his wife Anjali and daughter. According to reports, his wife planned to return to India with him.
Personal aircraft crashed near the international airport Sardar Vallabhbhai patel in Ahmedabad Gujarat to the hostel building with a resident shortly after take -off.

Previously, Prime Minister Modi visited a place for the Air India’s Aircraft crash in Ahmedabad and reviewed the ground situation, the day after the flight AI-171, which was bound by London Gatwick, shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad International Airport.
