Vizianagaram District Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy said on Monday (June 22, 2026) that fertilizer allocation will be done online in the Kharif season to ensure adequate supply in accordance with the extent of farmers’ land.
Speaking to The Hindu here, he said the system will ensure transparency in allocation and prevent possible chaos at fertilizer distribution points and branches of Vizianagaram District Marketing Cooperative Societies.
Normally, the district requires around 88,000 tonnes of fertilizer during the Kharif season. Farmers have to register their names under E-Panta to get their allotted fertilizer. He said farmers can order their allotted fertilizer quota based on their requirements.
Mr. Ramsundar Reddy’s farmers have been advised to select the right crops given the impact of El Nino and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) rainfall forecast. He said the government has allocated ₹149.84 crore to 2,27,700 farmers under the PM-Kisan and Annadata Sukhibhava schemes.
Cheepurupalli MLA Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao said the agriculture department has been asked to suggest short-term, medium-term and long-term crops so that farmers have income throughout the year.
“Farmers can use the water supplied through Thotapalli reservoir at optimum level even though there is a possibility of decrease in rainfall due to El nino impact. Commercial crops require less water as compared to paddy fields. Farmers can change their crop plans after receiving suggestions from agriculture officials and scientists,” said Mr. Venkata Rao.
