Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday wrote a letter to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in connection with the arrest of Father Godwin in Jhabua.
In the letter, the Chief Minister said that Father Godwin is a native of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. “I have been informed that he is involved in many charitable activities in Madhya Pradesh. I request you to kindly look into the matter personally and ensure that Father Godwin is not subjected to any kind of harassment and that there is no arbitrary action by any officials,” the Chief Minister said.
A Malay priest from Kerala has reportedly been arrested in Madhya Pradesh on charges of religious conversion. Father Godwin of Malayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram, who serves under the Church of South India (CSI), was taken into custody in Jhabua a few days ago. Father Godwin was arrested by the Ratlam Police and is currently lodged in Ratlam Prison.
