Farmers should take advantage of the formalization of Prime Minister’s prime minister in the Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) to add the value of agricultural production and increase their income, said MP K. Rajasekhar Basavaraj Hitnal.
On Thursday, after the start of the program, he spoke aware of the PMFME program in the auditorium of the District Administration building. The event was organized together by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Ltd. Bengaluru, ATMA, Ministry of Agriculture and Institute of Agricultural Technology.
“Farmers are the backbone of the nation, but often receive low yields for their crops. Companies buy their production, rebrands and earn huge profits. Instead, the farmers themselves should process, brand and launch their products to reap direct benefits.”
He ordered the main banking officials to speed up the loan sanctions within the system and asked agricultural officials to intensify campaigns to raise awareness. “Through the company processing enterprises, farmers can not only increase their earnings, but also create employment for others,” he added.
Deputy Commissioner Suresh B. Itnal emphasized the importance of adding the value for the prosperity of farmers. “Although our agricultural country is based in agriculture, farmers often cannot get fair prices for their crops. If they process and indicate their production, they will receive better returns. The Coppal district has great potential in horticultural and smaller millet.
The Joint Director of Agriculture TS RudresShappa said that within the PMFME system, the recipients receive 35% of a subsidy from the center and 15% from the state. “So far, 178 recipients in the district have established units and have become successful entrepreneurs. In this scheme, there is a great potential in this scheme in pulses, oil seeds and gardening crops,” he noted.
Aravind K., head of the PMFME team, presented a special lecture on the advantages of the scheme. On this occasion, sanction letters were symbolically distributed to recipients, successful entrepreneurs within this program were felicitated and released brochures and models of branding of local food products.
