Farmers said to adopt alternative methods to combat climate change
Farmers must adopt alternative and resilient farming methods to effectively counter the adverse effects of changing climate patterns and phenomena like El NiƱo, said Wayanad district panchayat president T. Chandrika Krishnan.
She was speaking during a training session on production and processing of tuber crops for indigenous farmers at the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation on Wednesday. The event was jointly organized by ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute and MSSRF as part of Tribal Sub Plan Scheme. Highlighting the growing importance of tuber crop cultivation due to climate uncertainty, Ms. Krishnan urged the farming community to make effective use of agricultural research and innovation to ensure survival and sustainability.
