
Farmers and agricultural laborers under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) on Thursday staged demonstrations against the recent India-US trade deal, among other demands, outside the seat of several legislators in Punjab. Demonstrations were held at places including Sangrur, the home town of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
“We staged demonstrations outside the residences and offices of government ministers and MLAs at 28 places in 18 districts. We want the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab to call a special session of the state assembly and pass a resolution against the recent India-US trade deal, besides the Centre’s proposed electricity bill and seeds bill,” Singh said. “We have also been pushing for the fulfillment of our pending demands from the centre. The most important is the legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops and debt relief for farmers,” he added.
