Several farmers and inhabitants gathered in the village of Perungadambanoor, located in Thirumarugal Block in the Nagapattinam district, on Saturday repeated their opposition to the construction of a regulator via Vettar in Uthamasolapuram.
The aim of the 49.5 GBP regulator in UTHAMASOLAPURAM is to prevent seawater from entering and is designed by water resources.
Demonstrators, including men and women, carried out Kummi, traditional folk dance and raised slogans against construction work and claimed that it could spoil agricultural land in nearby areas and demand that work to become an alternative place in Boothangangudi Village.
The protest was led by Sr Tamil Selvan from the Association of Farmers’ Protection Tamil Nadu.
