Delegation of farmers met with the Minister of Agriculture Shivaraj Singh Chouhan on Friday and submitted a memorandum requiring urgent measures for the well -being of farmers and compensation for their complaints. Miniter was in Mysuru to participate in 110.
The delegation led by H. Bhagyaraj, President, Karnataka of the State Association of Cultivators of Sugar Cute, called on the immediate implementation of MS Swaminathan reports and adoption of the law that the Act on the Law (SMP) to benefit farmers.
The Minister was also invited to ensure that agriculture, animal breeding, poultry and dairy agriculture, etc., be excluded from international trade agreements.
Among the key requirements, farmers were looking for year -round public procurement centers at the gram of Panchayat, complete surrender with agricultural loans and wanted a higher fair and reward for sugar cane.
Other requirements included reforms in crop insurance for direct coverage of disciplines and pension programs for farmers over 60 years. Small and marginal farmers should get 25 lakh for family safety in the event of death, the memorandum said.
Farmers calling for immediate approval of Kalasa Banduri and Mekedat projects were also looking for the liberation of agricultural products from GST, looking for support prices of 25,000 GBP for Quintal for Coconut and 20,000 GBP for Quintal for turmeric.
Another delegation, which includes farmers from the State Federation of the Agricultural Association, also encountered Mr. Chouhan and called on to terminate orders for agricultural land for non -agricultural purposes.
