Vizianagaram district bore the brunt of the incessant rains as over 15,000 acres of standing crops were damaged and 1,500 families were evacuated from low-lying areas after irrigation department officials on Friday released 24,000 cusecs of water from Madduvalasa and Suvarrajuuvat reservoirs in Vegamuvat town due to rising water levels in Vegamuvat. rivers.

Rajam Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Kondru Murali Mohan visited the flood-affected villages in Wangara mandal and assured the villagers of prompt support from the government. He directed the TDP leaders and workers to start service activities in the flood-affected villages after the residents complained of suffering financial losses due to crop damage. The Thotapalli reservoir located near Parvatipuram has received a huge amount of water from the basin. On Friday afternoon, around 23,250 cusecs of Nagavali river water was released from the reservoir. The flood impact in Parvatipuram-Manyam district was less compared to Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. However, the two-day rain proved to be a relief for the residents of the district.
