Farmers are protesting demanding uninterrupted power supply in Karimnagar district
A group of farmers staged a rasta roko at Sundaragiri junction in Chigurumamidi mandal of Karimnagar district on Friday, protesting against alleged unscheduled power cuts, which they said is affecting their standing maize and other crops.
Aggrieved farmers of Sundaragiri and neighboring villages sat on the main road demanding assurance of uninterrupted power supply to help protect their crops.
According to sources, the road blockade disrupted traffic for some time. The farmers called off the protest after mandal-level officials assured them that their grievances would be brought to the notice of higher authorities.
Similar protests were held in Paidimadugu village of Korutla mandal in Jagtial district and Kusumanchi in Khammam district on Friday.
