Farmer associations in Villupuram are quick to comply

Representatives of various farmers’ associations under the banner of Tamizhaga Vivayasayigal Pathukappu Sangam on Friday observed a fast at Thiruchitrambalam Road at Vanur in Villupuram district in support of their charter of demands.

The protesters urged the Tamil Nadu government to form a special committee to look into the issues surrounding Auroville. Among other demands, they sought the preservation of Annapurna Farm, the continued operation of Auro Orchard as an organic farm.

The protesters also demanded the creation of hostels for school and college students in Auroville and ensuring the effective functioning of the Auroville Heritage Centre.
