
Faridabad: Panic gripped residents and commuters late on Thursday night after a speeding SUV went on a reckless rampage along the Delhi-Mathura highway (NH-19). According to NDTV, the vehicle hit several cars on the stretch from Ballabhgarh to Old Faridabad.
The incident reportedly started near the Ballabhgarh flyover. Eyewitnesses said that a black Mahindra The Scorpio, which was noticeably missing its registration plate, was driving at “breakneck speed” towards Delhi. After the initial collision involving two vehicles in Ballabhgarh, the driver allegedly ignored attempts by passers-by to stop him, instead speeding up and fleeing the scene. NDTV message.
The driver continued his high-speed flight through Bata Chowk and Ajronda and rammed into several vehicles that were in his way.
The last collision
The trail of destruction ended nearby Old Faridabad Metro station when the driver lost control of the SUV.
The Scorpio crashed into the Mahindra Thar and the Mercedes-Benz with such force that the Thar was pushed into the road divider.
The Scorpio also sustained heavy damage and came to rest in the middle of the highway. A large crowd quickly gathered at the scene of the crash, apprehended the accused driver – who appeared to be heavily intoxicated – and handed him over to the responding officers.
Casualties and impact on traffic
Emergency services took the injured victims to a nearby private hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their exact terms have not yet been published.
The debris caused significant gridlock on the Delhi-Agra Highway, specifically affecting the stretch from Old Faridabad to Bata Chowk. Police deployed heavy cranes to clear the wrecked vehicles and successfully restored traffic flow.
The Faridabad police have initiated legal proceedings in the case and the driver is in custody.
Last month, an assistant valet was killed after an allegedly drunk driver rammed his vehicle into the parking counter of a popular restaurant in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area. PTI.
The fatal collision occurred at the entrance to Toit, a well-known brewery and restaurant.
According to Yerawada police station officials, the driver arrived at the business in a state of heavy intoxication.
Instead of coming to a controlled stop, the vehicle sped forward and crashed directly into the parking barrier where the employees were. The helper suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
“Assistant butler Satendar Mandal, who was on duty at the parking lot of the restaurant, was seriously injured. He was declared brought dead on arrival at a nearby hospital,” said a police official.
“He ordered a beer. However, his behavior was unruly as he hopped from one table to another. The restaurant staff asked him to behave and told him that since he was already drunk, he was not being served anymore. The staff then asked him to leave,” the official added.
