A gang of five persons who allegedly manufactured and sold fake education certificates were arrested by the Narsingi police on Saturday.
The arrested accused were identified as Mirza Akhtar Ali Baig alias Aslam, a master manufacturer, Mohammed Ajaz Ahmed, a broker and collector; and buyers Vaddepalli Venkat Sai, Vistala Rohit Kumar and Satthuri Praveen who were looking for fake B. Tech degrees and certificates.
Acting on a tip-off, police launched a patrol operation in the Chintha Chettu area on November 22 and nabbed the suspects when they arrived to deliver forged documents to customers.
Police seized fake diplomas, notes, transfer certificates, bonafide documents and other records in the names of SRM University and Bangalore City University. The accused admitted to printing, preparing and selling fictitious educational documents to people who wanted to secure educational or employment benefits for monetary gain.
All five accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
Narsingi police have warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone caught making, buying or brokering the sale of fake education certificates.
