The main Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai on Thursday (September 11, 2025) hit his counterpart Karnataka K. Siddaramaiaha on the design of renaming the metro station Nagar in Bengalur. He accused the chief Minister of Congress of establishing an alternative religious system and a drawn wedge between the communities.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena Ubt, the ally of Congress, appealed to the Chief Minister of Karnataka to consider this decision again. “History will not forgive you if you rename the station,” said Anand Dubey, a spokesman for Shiv Sena Ubt.
Mr. Fadnavis said, “I strongly condemn the decision to rename the station Shivaji Nagar as St. Mary Station. May it be Jawaharlal nezru, his comments on Shivaji Mahara in his book Discovery of India made such kinds of statements against Maharaji.”
Mr. Fadnavis also accused the chief Minister of Karnatak of the wedge proceedings among the communities. “I pray to God to make a good sense of the Chief Minister of Congress. The country saw” Swwajya “for CHHhatparati Shivaji Maharaj. For him to replace the name of the station in another name, an attempt to establish an alternative religious system and draw a wedge between the communities.
“Respect our feelings”
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena Ubt appealed to Congress to name the station after CHHATAPATI Shivaji Maharaj. “We want to tell the Chief Minister Karnataka, you are our neighbor, our ally. Please keep the name after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This is a matter concerning our sentiments, our self -esteem. Maharashtra, but in the country formulated Hindavi.
He said that the party did not want to politicize this problem and called on BJP so that it did not. “BJP has no moral right to say something about CHHATAPATI Shivaji Mahara.
The SHIVAJINAGAR metro station is the upcoming underground station on the pink series Bengalur, also called the “Namma Metro”, where construction work takes place.
The station is named around the Shivajinagar area surrounded by key monuments, such as Komerční Street, M. Chinnaswama stadium and the Basilica of the Virgin Mary in the city.
On Monday (September 8, 2025), at participation in the annual celebrations of the Basilica of the Virgin Mary, Mr. Siddaramaiah promised that the station would be renamed after St. Bier.
However, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited, the agency responsible for the implementation, construction, operation and expansion of the city network of the metro network, did not issue an official statement of this proposal.
