Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of resorting to choice banking politics for electoral gains in the February 11 municipal elections in Telangana.

The appeasement policy of the Congress has led to the division of India, he claimed on Saturday at a campaign rally in Telangana’s Kagaznagar town in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, where the elections were held.

He criticized both the BRS and the Congress, accusing them of ruining Telangana with their misrule and pushing the state into debt. Both parties have earned notoriety for massive betrayal of people’s trust, he charged the voters in Telangana to elect BJP candidates in the February 11 municipal elections to pave the way for all-round development of civic bodies.

Referring to the “overwhelming victory” of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in the recently held Maharashtra municipal elections, Mr. Fadnavis said the BJP would sweep the Telangana civic elections as well.

He said, “The BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will transform civic bodies into centers of growth by prioritizing development of urban infrastructure and civic amenities under various central schemes like AMRUT and UIDF.”

Responding to Sirpur MLA P. Harish Babu’s request for Maharashtra government’s cooperation on the Pranahita project, Mr. Fadnavis said that we believe in the concept of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat’. You can come to Mumbai to discuss, say and respond positively in this regard, quoting the MoU signed earlier by the governments of Maharashtra and Telangana on Godavari water projects in 2016. This shows our commitment to allow the neighboring states to use the river waters without submerging our state and affecting the interests of Maharashtra, he added.

He also assured to discuss the Bellampalli-Gadchiroli National Highway proposal with the Central Government. BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao, Adilabad MP G. Nagesh and others spoke. Later, Mr. Fadnavis conducted a road show in Mancherial town to garner support for BJP candidates in the civic polls.
