Apart from airports, feed from around 1.5 lakh surveillance cameras in vital installations across the country under CISF security cover will be linked to the centre, Mr Ranjan said during the foundation-laying ceremony of the new CISF headquarters at the CGO complex in Delhi.
The facial recognition cameras installed at six major airports — Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata — in the country are further designed to integrate with the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) to improve real-time monitoring, identification of suspects and support to law enforcement agencies, a senior CISF official said.
NATGRID is a secure platform for police and investigative agencies to access government and private databases in real time.
The Union Home Ministry has asked states to freely use the platform to access data sets that include driving license details, vehicle registration, Aadhaar, airline details, bank records, FASTAG, passport and travel data of foreigners and Indians, suspicious transaction reports from the Financial Intelligence Unit, railway passengers and also extract and analyze data from social media posts.
He serves with dignity
Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the chief guest at the event, said that from June 2025, the Government has introduced a Compassionate Disability Policy which ensures that service-disabled employees are not compulsorily retired and continue to serve with dignity, career progression and full benefits.
Highlighting technology based security solutions, Mr. Ranjan informed that the Regional Training Center at Behror, Rajasthan is being developed as a center of excellence for drone and anti-drone technology. The CISF has also been designated as the nodal agency for protecting critical infrastructure from drone threats. In addition, specialized cyber security teams are being trained in collaboration with leading institutions.
The Director General highlighted the Ministry’s approval to set up the first all-women reserve battalion of the CISF at Nuh, Haryana, comprising 1,024 personnel, as a major step towards empowering women in the armed forces.
