Crystal Palace improved its name in English football history with a stunning 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final and won the first main trophy of the club in its 119-year existence. Ebechi Eze is composed in the first half and the decisive punishment, with the exception of Dean Henderson, sealed the night to remember South London.
Few gave the palace a chance to head to the finals. The winner of the FA Cup in Manchester, Manchester Pep Guardiola and the ruling Premier League champion, were firmly against the Oliver Glasner team. But football has a habit of favoring fearless.
Palace’s breakthrough came in the 16th minute. Jean-Philippe Mateta’s Clever Hold-up Play was released by Daichi Kamada, who slipped through the perfectly weighted passage by Daniel Muoz on the right side. Colombian low cross found Eze, who calmly swept the ball around Stefan Ortega. Players and fans broke out with distrust and joy.
The city responded as expected, dominated the property and pushed the palace on the hind leg. They got to the punishment 20 minutes later after Tyrick Mitchell was tried that he was fouled Bernard Silva in a box-decision box, despite Mitchell’s protests. Omar Marmoush got out, but Henderson guessed correctly and made a great rescue to keep the palace.
Previously, the goalkeeper of the palace was involved in the controversial moment when he treated the ball outside his box under the pressure of Erling Haaland. After the lengthy check of VAR, the officials decided that Haaland was not denied a clear chance of goal and Henderson escaped punishment.
Since then, the Palace has dug. Kamada and Muoz carried out fundamental defensive interventions, while Henderson continued his September, in particular the discarded efforts of Argentine young man Claudia Echeverri late in the game.
Palace thought he doubled his lead in the second half. Long throw from Chris Richards caused chaos into the box and after the scratch including Ismala Sarr and Muoz was connected to the net. During the accumulation, however, Sarr was convicted and the goal was banned.
