With regard to the key elections together 2026, the Assam unit of the party Bharatiya Janata (BJP) announced the 18-member main committee.
The list was announced before the Interior Minister AMIT Shah in the State on Thursday 28 August 2025) to review the party’s preparation for state polls for less than a year.
“The Committee was created with the consent of the National President of the JP Operation Party,” said Lok member Sabha and State President BJP Dilip Saikia.
Mr. Saikia is at the top of the list, followed by the main Minister Himant Bisw Sarma, his presessor and trade union Minister Sarbanand Sonowal. Other key members are Minister of Trade Unions Pabitra Margherita, National Secretary Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, State Ministers Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Ashok Singhal and Rano Peg.
The committee also includes former state president of BJP Bhabesh Kalita and former MP Rajdeep Roy.
“The committee will focus on the formulation of strategy, coordination between its units and mobilizing local levels to strengthen the party’s base,” the party spokesman said.
The aim of the BJP is to ensure the third consecutive term of office by increasing its session out of 60 in surveys 2021. The party in 2016 acquired the same number of seats.
BJP currently has 64 MLA in a 126-member house. The party added four seats through election elections.
BJP coalition partners in the state are Asom Gana Parisad with eight MLAs and the United Party of the Party Liberal Seden.
