The extension of the NH 45 from ChengalPatt to Tindivanam to six lanes is likely to start in a year. A detailed report of the project is approaching completion.
The 68 km long section of GST Road, which passes 39 income villages in the districts of Chengalpath and Tinvanam, has 30 intersections daily and witnesses 59,657 units of passenger cars a day.
The extension is essential because the section from Pulipakkam Junction to Tindivanam has 33 Blackspots, the source said in the Indian National Motorway Office (Nhai). K. Ramesh of Abi Cabs called it a welcome step.
“Previously, the accidents happened to paranur, because the road was only four with four layers. The accidents take place behind the paranur and mostly highways, because people follow the rules. We have to be vigilant and watch out for bad drivers, people who travel … If people drive right, 99% of accidents can be avoided.
“The consultant is currently finishing a report for a project that will be implemented from toll square in Paranura to Salavada. Together with six lanes, the expansion will also allow the road to have continuous service lanes. The final costs are estimated to be around 2,500 GBP,” said the source.
The shift of service programs, such as water pipes of water containers and drainage Tamil over and Panchayats, will be a challenge because the lines must be identified under the meantance that will be removed. There will be nominal soil obtaining on curves and missing points. In the villages of Pulipakkam and Pazhaveli, some Hillock blasting will be required.
A total of four laymen with 2.5 hectares were planned, each of which and two rest of 1.25 hectares. Since the Veeranam water pipeline runs on about 20 meters along the highway, efforts will be made to minimize the shift. A total of 14 structures, including overpasses and bridges, must be rehabilitated, 10 expanded and about 15 newly built.
