Two days before the main Minister UTTAR Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, the proposed visit to Bahraich, a company permitted by the Union Oil Ministry, allegedly used a large number of explosives for drilling without informing local administration, the officials said.
Local BJP MLA Surveshvar Singh described the incident as “serious security delay” and demanded the abolition of the visit to the main minister.
The Sub-Divisional Municipality of Prasad told PTI that Alpha Geo India Limited was assigned the task of drilling and survey of oil and gas deposits by the Ministry of Oil. The survey company used ammonium nitrate explosives.
Although the company performed the government approved, the standard operational procedures (SOP) failed to observe and did not inform the local administration, he said.
This caused panic between villagers and resentment among public representatives. After receiving information from the police and administrative employees, they reached on the spot and started the investigation, SDM added.
He said that about 200 employees of the company work in various shifts across several villages, most of which come from West Bengal and face language barriers with locals.
In order to ensure their safety during the increasing tension, all employees were brought to the Hardi police station, he added.
Ammonium nitrate without prior intimation
Another police superintendent (rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari said the company had drilled up to 30 meters underground using Amonia nitrate without prior indication of villagers or authorities.
“Today, about 50-60 employees placed in the field for questioning were called to the police station. No one has been detained yet.
Mahsi Mla Sureshvar Singh, who increased the alarm, said he was scheduled to visit the main minister, the presence of hundreds of outsiders and 500 kilograms of explosives in the district.
“The intelligence reports warned against a possible infiltration of 47 terrorists through the Indo-Napal border. Imagine a security risk of events where the main minister and possibly Prime Minister, reminiscent of Maharaja Suhldev, will be present, he said.
The MLA said he spoke to the main secretary (home) Sanjay Prakad and urged him to cancel the visit of the main minister until the matter was fully resolved.
This is a serious security slump.
Kuldeep Sharma, a representative of Alpha Geo India Limited, admitted to demise.
“In February we informed the authorities concerned. However, we were supposed to inform them again before we started working on explosives. Because it was Sunday today, we continued without intimation, which was a mistake,” PTI told the PTI.
