Since Kuruvai cultivation took place in several delta pockets and most areas, they are still waiting for favorable conditions, scientists from Tamil Nadu Rice Research Institute (Trri), Aduthurai, urging farmers to plan Samba and Thalalad seasons, low inputs, low -level rewards.
Director Trri K. Subrahmaniyan told Hindu that the selection of diversity must be in line with the soil and climate of the delta. Citing TPS 5, a commonly used variety, said that while ripening in 100 days elsewhere, it takes 125 days in the delta – causing delayed harvest, higher incidence of pests and increased costs. He warned against sowing the short duration during the Samba season and called it a common but expensive mistake.
He expressed concern about the continuous trim, especially Thaladim immediately after Kuruvai, which denies the soil of the recovery phases. “Without rest or organic enrichment, fertilizer response is still falling,” he said. “Twenty years ago, she provided 10 kg of fertilizers.
To restore fertility soil, he recommended crops of green fertilizers such as Sunn Hemp and Dincha to be integrated before the flower. A well -managed crop of green manure can contribute up to 130 kg of nitrogen per hectare and 20-30 tons of biomass. “Only 10-15 kg of acre seeds is enough and 45-60 days before Kuruvai should be integrated,” he said. Pulse cultivation after samba, added, can improve soil health and help break the pests cycles.
R. Manimaran, a professor with expertise in the field of pulses, hybrid rice in Trri, recommended Kuruvai varieties such as ADT 53, 55, 56 and 57 – of which ADT 57 is suitable for direct sowing and ADT 55 offers bacterial leaflet (BLB). ADT 53 is a good alternative to ADT 43 for pailed rice and ADT 59 is preferred for idle rice.
For salt and coastal tails areas, varieties (Tiruchi Rice) are 1 to 5 ideal. For Samba, ADT 51 (155 days) and ADT 52 (145 days) are recommended, while the ADT 52 is known for its strong non -comprehensive ability in bad weather.
For Delta susceptible to the flood, CR1009 SUB 1 recommended to last up to 15 days of immersion during early growth.
For Thalaladi (October sowing), ADT 54 (alternative to improved white Ponni), ADT 58 and ADT 60-VSE in 125–135 daily medium-term group-for their consistency in the right window.
