
Vit-AP School of Law (VSL) at Vit-AP University, Amaravati, in cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), organized a two-day international workshop on “refugee protection: current themes” on September 18. answers to displacement.
The event was particularly significant because 2025 indicates the 75th anniversary of the UNHCR status, received by the UN General Assembly on 14 December 1950. The law remains the cornerstone of the UN High Commissioner for the refugee mandate and outlines its creation and legal basis for its functions.
At his inauguration address, Areti Sianni, the head of the mission, the UNHCR India and the Maldives, reflected on the global and regional mandate of UNHCR. Sunod Jacob, a governmental liaison officer, Unhcr India and Maldives, spoke of the penetration of international obligations and state answers, while Anshdeep Kaur, external relations, emphasized the importance of partnership and defense.
The two-day workshop also recorded the participation of SV Kota Reddy, Vit-AP Vice-Chairman; VSL Benarji Chakka, Dean VSL; Faculty members, scholars and students.
