New Delhi: There is a special silence that descends when Archer Jyothi Arekha Vennam enters the shooting line. Legs planted in silent balance, shoulders to the other when it attracts bowstring back with mechanical accuracy. The folded bow in her hands is almost weightless, the extent calms down, and her view narrows through him as a lens focused on certainty. The release is invisible – no drama, without backward. Only the clean, flat sound of the arrow cuts through the air and ends in the heart of the target. This is Jyothi in its elements – folded, unarmed, tirelessly consistent. For more than ten years, she has been an Indian face of folded archery – a figure of discipline and control in sports that rewards nerves and nuances.Jyothi’s style is defined by the accuracy under pressure. Her coach often calls her a “unwavering”, rare athlete who seems to slow down time in the clutches. “We do a lot of meditation and visualization,” Jyothi said in an exclusive interview during the ongoing Premier League 2025 archery. “It helps me stay in my zone, no matter how the competition is happening.”This mental framework helped her build one of the most successful careers in the Indian history of archery. Opposite the World Championship, Asian Championships, Asian Games and World Championships, Jyothi has turned into a synonym for consistency – medals across formats, rewritten records and silent leadership, which have been anchored by Indian composed teams for years. At the 2021 World Championship in Yankton, Jyothi, Jyothi became the first Indian to win three silver medals in one edition – in the team and mixed events. This performance was promoted to world counting. Two years later, at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, she changed silver to gold. Jyothi shot with an infallible rhythm and required a female compound individual gold and added a team as well as mixed team gold – one of the Indian orientation moments in archery. “It was emotional,” said a 29 -year -old man. “I wanted to prove to the world that India could dominate the world scene.”By 2024 and 2025, Jyothi’s form reached another peak. She dominated the World Cup stages, won several gold, and finished the back-to-back season as one of the highest folded archers around the world. And then came Madrid 2025, the date that carved her name in the world records. Jyothi, paired with the rising star of Rishabh Yadav in a composed mixed team, helped India to publish a new world record 1431 in qualification, exceeding the previous stamp in 1429.“I’ve been shooting well in the last few seasons, but somewhere I felt I could give more – there was more left in the tank,” she said. “I felt really good from my rhythm, we both shot really well, the best of our career.”At present, Jyothi takes a special role in the Indian archery – both mentor and on the basis of. It helps young archers through world events and at the same time retains its own standards. “It’s not just about getting medals for yourself,” she said. “When we work well, it opens the door for the next generation. I am always ready to share my knowledge with young people who can be beneficial to the Indian team as a whole.”Technically, the Jyothi process is to maintain access, which is formed by thousands of repetitions. “For me it’s about the trust of this process. You can’t control where the arrow lands, you can control how you shoot it,” she said.

What do you think is the most impressive success of Jyothi Arekha Vennam?
It is a deceptively simple line, but captures its essence. Even during rare immersion, Jyothi refuses to dwell on the negatives. “I started to concentrate more on positives than what went wrong,” she said. “Every arrow is a chance to do better than the last one.”The folded archery will make their debut at the Los Angeles Olympics 2028, while the mixed team event is the exclusive medal of discipline events.“Gaining the Olympic medal remains my final dream. I am satisfied with the fact that I have won medals in all possible international competitions, but the Olympics is the biggest thing in the world of sport,” she said.
