Ex-soldier booked for ‘sexually assaulting, harassing’ members of women’s self-help group

The Coonoor police have booked an ex-serviceman for allegedly sexually harassing members of a women’s self-help group in The Nilgiris.

The police identified the accused as K. Shree Ram, a resident of Nedugula in Kotagiri and husband of one of the self-help group members. A complaint by one of the members alleged that Shree Ram forced women working with the self-help group to watch inappropriate content on his mobile phone and made vulgar remarks. As a result, he was told to stop visiting the office.

The complainant further alleged that Shree Ram stopped her on the road on May 18 and sexually assaulted her in public.
