After the Supreme Court administration wrote the center to seek to release the official residence of India, the judge Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud responded with citing personal reasons for his prolonged stay in bungalow.
Chandrachud said that the delay was caused by the requirements of his family and added that he had “two daughters with special needs”.
“My daughters have serious co -morbidity and genetic problems – especially non -small myopathy, for which AIIMS specialists are treated,” said the former CJI.
He said it took time to find a house suitable for a family, and acknowledges that this is a “personal problem”.
Chandrachud further explained that it was discussed with the judges and officers of the Supreme Court.
While he claimed that he fully realized his obligations to “occupy the Supreme Court,” he said he would move in a few days.
“Certainly, the former CJIS in the past was allowed an extended time to maintain government accommodation after retirement, often to facilitate the transition or solve personal needs,” Chandrachud said.
