February 18, 2026

The Thiruvananthapuram District and Sessions Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea filed by former Thiruvananthapuram MLA Antony Raju to quash his conviction in the evidence tampering case.

Chief District and Sessions Judge Nazeer S. dismissed the plea filed in his appeal against the conviction. The result would bar Mr. Raju from contesting the upcoming assembly elections. He is likely to move the Kerala High Court seeking relief in the case.

The court suspended his sentence two weeks ago. Mr. Raju and KS Jose, a judicial officer, were convicted by Class I Magistrate – I Nedumangad in a narcotics case involving an Australian national who was arrested from the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in 1990 with possession of ganja. Both were found guilty of disappearing evidence, forgery and fabricating false evidence.
