Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka claimed that the Congress government’s welfare schemes are reaching almost every household in Telangana, with ₹1,64,431 crore being directly transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries in the last three years.
Stating that he was willing to discuss the numbers with anyone, he said that every rupee available to the government was systematically spent on welfare and development.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stones for development works worth ₹ 74.82 crore in Achampet constituency, including 220/33 kV substation at Mannanur.
Mr. Bhatti said the government was implementing welfare measures on an unprecedented scale, benefiting about 1.06 million families out of 1.15 million households in the state. Nearly 3.42 million people receive free six kilograms of fine rice every month, while 71.4 million farmers benefit from the Rythu Bharosa scheme. About 43 lakh beneficiaries are receiving social security pensions and 1.06 lakh families are covered under Rajiv Aarogyasri which provides medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh.
He said 53 thousand families were getting free electricity up to 200 units per month while women were benefiting from free bus travel under the Mahalakshmi scheme. The government also continued to reimburse fees for nearly 12 million students and provided breakfast, milk and ragi malt to 27 million students in government schools.
Highlighting the Indiramma Indlu programme, Mr. Bhatti said the government aims to provide housing to seven lakh poor families, with 7,300 houses sanctioned in Achampet alone. A financial assistance of ₹5000 is provided for each house. He also announced that the Indiramma Life Insurance Scheme will be launched on November 19 to provide financial security to families after the death of an earning member.
On infrastructure development, Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka said the government has earmarked ₹90,000 crore for road construction across Telangana and will prepare area-specific development plans based on local resources, rivers, tourism potential and human capital. He said Achampet will be developed as a major transport hub with better road connectivity, bridges and tourism infrastructure.
Recalling the issues highlighted during the congress padayatra in the region, Mr. Bhatti said the government was addressing them one by one. He reiterated that the fulfillment of human aspirations through a combination of welfare and development remains the main objective of “people’s government”.
