The State Cabinet approved the establishment of the 10th Assam Police Battalion in Sonapure near Guwahati at the price of 260 Crore, said Chief Minister of Histant Biswa Sarma.
The meeting held on Sunday (September 21, 2025) also approved a 20% bonus for tea gardens under Assam Tea Corporation on the occasion of Durg Puja, Sarma told reporters in Guwahati.
In addition, the cabinet cleared the establishment of a questionnaire combined competing (preliminary) examination (CCE) to be carried out by the Assam Public Service (APSC) in English and Asama languages to remove the language barrier for candidates, especially from rural and folk backgrounds, he said.
However, the questions in the part of the “understanding” of the Articles of General Studies II will only be set in English.
The Ministers’ Council also approved the decision to entrust the operation of 5,000 capacity “Jyoti Bishnu Auditorium” in Guwahati to Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshertra Society, CM said.
The Cabinet also nodded to strengthen the reward, left the demands and adoption of the annual assessment format for 65 facilitators of science and mathematics involved in Assam Science, Technology and Environment Council (Astec).
