Ernakulam Rural Police inspects 478 school vehicles in a special drive

The Ernakulam Rural Police on Friday (February 6, 2026) inspected 478 vehicles used to transport school children in a special drive aimed at spotting traffic violations that could endanger the safety of students. Police checked 138 vehicles in Aluva sub-district, followed by 93 in Munambam and 90 in Muvattupuzha.

While 81 vehicles were inspected in Puthencruz sub-division, 76 vehicles were inspected in Perumbavoor. A special team, divided into different groups, had been carrying out the inspection since early morning. The drive was conducted on the instructions of Arula RB Krishna, Deputy Inspector General, Ernakulam Range.

“During the checks, no serious violations were detected. The purpose of the drive was mainly to keep the driver alert,” said a police source.
