Karnataka High Court and Administrative Judge Justice KS Hemalekha distributed equipment to eligible differently-abled persons at the District Court Complex in Yadgir on Sunday.
Ms. Hemalekha said the very purpose of distributing the equipment was to ensure equal opportunities and justice for the differently-abled.
The program was jointly organized by Karnataka Legal Services Authority (KSLA) and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Department of District Health and Family Welfare, Senior Citizens and Department for Empowerment of Differently Handicapped and Senior Citizens (DWDSC), Yadgir Institute of Medical Sciences (YIMS) and an NGO (Association for Persons with Disabilities) to celebrate the International Day of Health and Disability. for Differently Abled’.
A survey was conducted in coordination with the departments to assess the percentage of disability among those who came in person and participated and the required equipment was distributed to the selected beneficiaries.
“With this facility, we have ensured justice at the doorstep of the differently-abled,” the judge said and also wished the district to come first in the state in issuing the necessary UDID cards to the beneficiaries.
Director YIMS Sandeep Patil said that after successful assessment, the equipment like wheelchairs, ear aids, walking sticks etc. will be given to the selected beneficiaries. Currently the district is ranked 12th in the state and we are aiming to maintain the top spot.
Security Appellate Tribunal Chairman and TN High Court Judge Dinesh Kumar (retd) also spoke.
Blood was donated by the general public, lawyers and court staff, as part of the event, equipment was issued for 23 eligible persons.
Chief District and Sessions Judge Marulasiddaradhya, Civil Judge Mariyappa, Yadgir Bar President, RS Patil and other officials were present.
