Friday’s release of the latest batch of documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has brought several high-profile, rich and powerful figures into the spotlight. On Jan. 30, the Justice Department released fresh public court records from the criminal cases and civil lawsuits filed by Epstein and his confidant Ghislaine Maxwell. The website showed more than 800,000 records, including emails with Elon Musk, Reid Hoffman, Howard Lutnick, Steve Tisch, Bill Gates, Donald Trump and Mette-Marit. Below are the top ‘8’ big reveals.
- Billionaire Elon Musk is among the celebrities whose name has appeared in the latest batch of Epstein files. The CEO of Tesla has expressed interest in visiting Epstein’s private island in 2012 and 2023 in these communications.
In an apparent email to Elon Musk, Epstein wrote: “Reid (Hoffman) was on the island last weekend, do you think you’ll be in the Caribbean (or Caribbean) for Christmas? New Years? (sic)” In another email, Musk asked Epstein, “Which day/night will be the wildest party on our island?”
- Meanwhile, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman has accused Musk of covering up his involvement with Epstein.
In connection with visits to Epstein’s controversial private island, his apartment in New York and his ranch in New Mexico, Musk said that Epstein planned to involve him in his circle through Hoffman, but failed.
- The name of Commerce Minister Howard Lutnick also appeared in the investigative material. Suggesting Howard Lutnick met with Epstein, a 2012 email from later states to former states: “Nice to see you.” However, Lutnick denied the claims and previously stated that they had not spoken since 2005.
- New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch’s connection to a convicted sex offender can be traced to sexually charged conversations between the two.
A 2013 email thread suggests that Tisch asked Epstein whether a “Ukrainian girl” was “pro or civil” and whether a particular woman was “fun” around the time Epstein was convicted of procuring a child for prostitution. In another email, the convicted pedophile described a woman as “Tahitian” named “Emily”, wondering if she was “a working girl? In another disturbing conversation with the late financier, Tisch asked, “Is my present in NYC? to which Epstein said yes. In response, Tisch asked, “Can I be surprised and take me to lunch tomorrow?”
- Records show Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates tried to hide an STD from his then-wife Melinda French Gates. He caught the infection after alleged sexual encounters with “Russian girls”. In another email, Epstein claimed that Gates urged him to delete certain messages related to his STD diagnosis. “Your request that I provide you with antibiotics to secretly give to Melinda and a description of your p****,” it read.
- US President Donald Trump’s name appearing in the new material suggests that Trump hosted high-profile parties at his Mar-a-Lago estate. The allegations relate to a teenager, roughly 13-14 years old, who was “forced to have ‘oral sex.’
Another document mentions Trump’s name in connection with unverified tips sent to the FBI and in handwritten notes taken during an interview with the victim. According to an employee of Epstein, Trump visited Epstein’s home. Some emails suggest a woman named Melania shared a friendly relationship with Trump in 2002 and mentioned traveling to Palm Beach.
Embarrassed by the revelations, the Crown Princess regretted her decision and expressed her “deepest sympathy and solidarity” with the victims, saying: “I deeply regret it and must take responsibility. I showed poor judgment and regretted having any contact with Epstein at all.”
