US President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed into law the release of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after pressure from Democrats and amid tension in his own party over delays in releasing the files.
“Democrats have used the ‘Epstein’ issue, which affects them far more than the Republican Party, to try to distract from our AMAZING VICTORY,” Trump said, adding, “I JUST SIGNED A BILL TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!”
Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Justice Department would release all eligible Epstein-related files within the next 30 days, the New York Post reported.
Accusing Democrats of being connected to Epstein, Trump said: “Jeffrey Epstein, who was indicted in 2019 by the Trump Justice Department (not the Democrats!), was a lifelong Democrat, donated thousands of dollars to Democratic politicians, and was deeply connected to many prominent Democratic figures such as Bill Clinton.
