Environmental groups have condemned cyber attacks on environmental activist N. Badusa after he filed a case in the Supreme Court against the Kalladi-Anakkampoyil tunnel road project.
In a joint statement, the organizations said the cyber attacks by the “goonda gang” came after the Wayanad Prakruthi Samrakshana Samithi moved the court to cancel the environmental clearance granted to the tunnel project. The groups also criticized the announcement of the gang’s march to Baduš’s house, which they said was aimed at intimidation.
Environmental groups said attempts by these gangs to threaten activists would be countered through legal means and public intervention.
The collective expressed concern that the proposed tunnel route could cause serious environmental consequences in the region. They alleged that the tunnel road project could disrupt the ecological balance of Wayanad and lead to major environmental disasters in Meppadi in the district and affect Anakkampoyil-Thiruvambady areas in Kozhikode district.
