As part of security arrangements for the New Year celebrations, City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said unrestricted public access on MG Road and Brigade Road will not be allowed this year.
Access to the main celebration zones will be controlled and regulated to avoid overcrowding and to ensure the smooth movement of pedestrians, emergency vehicles and police units.
After a field inspection on Wednesday, Mr Singh said dedicated areas had been identified to temporarily control the flow of crowds. Citizens have been urged to co-operate with police officers and plan their movements in advance as free access to Brigade Road, which was allowed in earlier years, will not be allowed this time.
As part of the plan, the area in and around MG Road is covered with CCTV coverage and live crowd movement and AI-powered monitoring systems. These systems will enable real-time monitoring, early identification of crowd pressure points and rapid intervention if necessary.
The Bengaluru City Police has launched a social media campaign asking revelers to #CelebrateResponsably, urging citizens to celebrate with restraint, courtesy and cooperation with law enforcement officials.
