England captain Harry Brook said on Wednesday (March 4) that his team will rely heavily on data when they take on India in the T20 World Cup semi-finals. Having dominated their Super 8s group, England are set for a steep challenge against the hosts, who look set to hit their peak form at the right time in the tournament.
Brook, when asked how England were going about their pre-game plans, said that they had scoured a lot of data and would use it to make life difficult for the Indian batsmen.
“Yeah, of course we’ve got a lot of stats, we’ve got a lot of video, we can see where the batsmen are trying to hit the ball, we know the cartwheels and what not, we know the matchups. It’s just a matter of trying to maneuver the bowlers to make it uncomfortable for their batsmen for as long as possible, really. Of course they can try and adapt very well to my pitching and it’s uncomfortable. as possible,” Harry Brook said in a press conference.
England have played their last three matches in Sri Lanka, at Pallekele and Colombo. The team now returns to the Wankhede Stadium where they were given a run for their money by Nepal in the opening match of the tournament.
England will be hoping their batsmen raise their level against India on Wednesday. Senior batsmen Jos Buttler and Phil Salt will be hoping to find their best gear against a strong Indian bowling attack.
India vs. England starts on March 5 at 19:00 IST. The winner of the match will play the winner of South Africa and New Zealand at the summit in Ahmedabad.
